Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist

We are looking for an experienced Senior Human Resources (HR) Generalist to support a broad range of HR operations for manufacturing company in Waynesboro, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position will partner closely with site leadership to strengthen employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits administration, onboarding, and policy execution. The role is well suited for a detail-oriented human resources specialist who can balance day-to-day support with compliance oversight, reporting, and process consistency while handling sensitive matters with sound judgment. This position has potential to become permanent. It will fluctuate between 25-40 hours weekly - you must have flexibility for this to be considered for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with managers and employees to address workplace concerns, provide guidance on HR matters, and promote fair, consistent resolution of employee issues.

  • Contribute to the creation, rollout, and upkeep of human resources policies, procedures, and programs aligned with company standards and legal requirements.

  • Interpret employment guidelines and help ensure HR practices remain compliant with applicable federal, state, and workplace regulations.

  • Support workplace investigations by gathering information, documenting findings, and helping drive timely follow-up actions.

  • Coordinate recruiting activities from job posting through candidate assessment, interview support, and selection recommendations for open positions.

  • Build and maintain talent pipelines by cultivating relationships with colleges, external recruiting sources, and other community-based channels.

  • Assist with onboarding and orientation for incoming employees in partnership with training and operational teams to create a smooth start.

  • Maintain HRIS records and personnel data with a high level of accuracy while preparing recurring metrics, government filings, and other required reports.

  • Participate in employee engagement initiatives and contribute to programs that foster a positive, safe, and productive work environment.

  • Represent the organization in unemployment claim matters and support other assigned HR projects and administrative responsibilities as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent education and practical experience will also be considered.

  • At least 2-5 years of progressive human resources experience, including exposure to employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, and HR administration.

  • Prior HR experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.

  • Solid understanding of employment law, benefits-related practices, and applicable state and federal labor regulations.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of an organization.

  • Demonstrated discretion in managing confidential and sensitive employee information.

  • Proficiency with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR is preferred.
