Senior Financial Accounting and Data Engineering SME

About the Role Senior Financial Accounting and Data Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) at Kairos, supporting DoD data, AI, and platform engineering initiatives for DASN(FM&C). This role will develop data products and provide architectural guidance across NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS networks, collaborating with government teammates to advance priority use cases and data automation. What You'll Do

• Support ongoing data, AI, and platform engineering, platform architecture, and DevOps efforts across NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS.
• Provide rapid engineering capabilities for application development, data engineering development, and AI development.
• Train military and government engineering teammates and share knowledge from prior experience.
• Support DON advanced data engineering, AI, and platform engineering efforts aligned to priority use cases supporting DASN(FM&C).
• Lead and support engineering and engineering team management efforts as required.
• Build data, platform, and AI coalitions to achieve DASN(FM&C) goals and priorities.
• Establish software, data, AI, and platform engineering special operations teams aligned to DASN(FM&C).
• Provide DoD financial accounting system subject matter expertise and architectural engineering concepts to resolve the DON’s most complex data integration and data automation challenges. What We're Looking For
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, data engineering, data analytics, data science, AI, operations research, software engineering, or another technical field (required).
• Master's degree in one of the above fields (preferred).
• 10+ years of DoD experience supporting large-scale data engineering, data automation, and application development efforts using Advana, NIPR, SIPR and/or JWICS (required).
• Active Secret Security Clearance; U.S. Citizenship.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and drive alignment across teams.
• Excellent project management and cross-functional leadership.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment; independently; multi-task; meet deadlines; detail-oriented.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills; strong verbal and written communication.
• Experience with DoD financial accounting systems and data integration; ability to work across NIPR/SIPR/JWICS environments.
• Willingness to adapt to evolving technology. Nice to Have
• Master’s degree and training experience are preferred. Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $160,000 - $230,000 annually (USD).
