About the Role Senior Field Service Technician leads upgrades, implementation, optimization and maintenance of a large regional mission-critical communication system. The role provides technical support for specialized systems including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics, provisioning of networked infrastructure, and RF/broadband performance optimization. Based in Austin, TX, with travel as needed and 24/7 on-call support for public safety customers. What You'll Do
- Perform upgrades, implementation, optimization and preventive maintenance on complex regional communications systems.
- Provide technical support for specialized systems and product applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software-driven electronics.
- Provision communication system infrastructure and optimize RF and broadband architecture (legacy analog, P25, data infrastructure).
- Deliver weekly activity and accomplishment reports.
- Maintain, test and document complex systems; perform trend analysis.
- Develop solutions to difficult technical problems during maintenance, upgrades or support.
- Maintain expertise in wired networks (LAN/WAN) and cabling, routers, switches, firewalls and bridges; install/configure/maintain network equipment.
- Perform maintenance of server hardware/OS and software; troubleshoot to resolve system/application issues.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of RF systems (transmitters, receivers, antenna networks) and standard telephony and data circuits, including packet switching techniques.
- Proficiency with Motorola CPS Software, Google Suite, MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Access.
- Exhibit strong self-management and customer-facing communication; collaborate with customers, MSS, Sales, Engineering, Project Management and Support teams.
- Read and interpret equipment schematics/diagrams; use test devices such as System Analyzers and Power Meters. What We're Looking For
- 2+ years experience as a Technician, Field/System, IT, Networking, RF, LMR or Electronics.
- Prior Military Electronics experience.
- Network certifications (Security+, CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar) highly desirable.
- FCC License, ETA and/or other Industry Certifications are also desired.
- Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customers.
- Must have a current valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- On-call availability 24/7, 365 days; travel approximately 25%.
- Based in the Austin, TX area; compliance with CJIS Security Policy.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. indefinitely; sponsorship not available. Nice to Have
- Prior Military Electronics experience.
- Additional industry certifications such as FCC/ETA are a plus. Compensation & Benefits
- Target Base Salary Range: $75,000 - $85,000 USD per year.
