About this role

About the Role CRFS Senior Field Applications Engineer serves as the primary technical bridge between our engineering team and our diverse customer base. Based at CFRS' U.S. headquarters in Reston, VA, this hybrid role provides expert-level support, hands-on training, and troubleshooting for complex RF systems and networked solutions. What You'll Do

  • Provide high-tier technical assistance remotely and on-site to ensure mission success for CRFS customers.
  • Maintain and deliver comprehensive training to end users, from basic system operation to advanced usage.
  • Diagnose and perform high-level repairs on CRFS equipment in office and field settings.
  • Deploy to customer locations to assist with installation, configuration, and field integration.
  • Develop test plans and summary project reports to support customer exercises and field activities.
  • Support Sales with system capability demonstrations and technical advice.
  • Proactively manage demonstration equipment and inventory to ensure calibration and readiness.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, relaying field data and feature requests to internal teams.
  • Travel up to 50% domestically and some international travel.
  • Perform other related duties as required. What We're Looking For
  • RF Expertise: Solid understanding of RF concepts (frequency, power, spectrum analysis) and proficiency with test equipment such as Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, and multimeters.
  • Degree: BS in electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related technical field (military technical school experience considered in lieu of degree).
  • Experience: 5 years of relevant experience.
  • ESD Skills: Experience working on static-sensitive equipment in ESD-controlled environments.
  • Networking Knowledge: Basic to intermediate networking skills (TCP/IP, subnets, VLANs, and hardware configuration).
  • Technical Literacy: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with specialized software and standard OS environments.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent oral and written communication; ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: Proven ability to learn new technologies rapidly and work with minimal supervision.
  • Mobility: Willingness to travel frequently to support customer requirements.
  • Safety: Knowledge of safe working practices, risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts. Nice to Have
  • DoD/government experience and defense contracting environments are highly desirable.
  • Active or prior Secret/TS clearance is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated autonomy in managing field schedules and customer relationships. Compensation & Benefits
