Senior Expeditor

Position Overview

Lead the expediting response when complex equipment, supplier performance, or manufacturing delays threaten Kiewit's project schedules. As a Senior Expeditor, you will own challenging supplier packages, test the credibility of recovery plans, and bring project and supplier leaders the facts and options needed to act. You will combine manufacturing knowledge, schedule analysis, and supplier influence to improve delivery reliability while developing the capability of other expeditors.

This is a senior individual contributor role with technical leadership and mentoring responsibilities. You will work within the approved project expediting framework and recommend changes in surveillance, escalation, and resources. Formal staffing, personnel management, and program governance remain with the designated lead or manager.

This position is based out of our Houston, Texas office.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain contract-specific expediting plans within the approved project framework. Manage complex, long-lead, or schedule-critical packages through engineering, manufacturing, shipment, receipt, and closeout.
• Contribute pre-award input on supplier schedule realism, reporting and document requirements, sub-supplier visibility, shop access, recovery expectations, and closeout deliverables for assigned high-risk packages.
• Challenge detailed supplier schedules, critical and near-critical dependencies, remaining durations, resource assumptions, and lower-tier commitments. Reconcile supplier dates with contractual milestones and construction or commissioning needs.
• Lead expediting review of supplier recovery plans. Test root cause, revised schedule logic, labor and shift assumptions, material availability, inspection readiness, and transport options. Track whether actions recover time and escalate repeat misses.
• Plan and lead targeted shop-expediting visits with the appropriate project approvals. Verify physical progress, capacity constraints, critical materials, sub-supplier status, and the evidence supporting promised completion dates.
• Resolve difficult delivery interfaces with Engineering, document control, Supplier Quality Surveillance, Logistics, and site teams. Bring supplier leadership into escalations when commitments remain unsupported or unresolved.
• Present delivery-risk assessments with evidence, affected milestones, options, action owners, and decisions needed. Recommend changes to package surveillance and expediting intensity through the project lead.
• Maintain reliable forecast history and prepare factual delay chronologies and milestone evidence for Contract Management. Route requests for cost or schedule relief, changed scope, and commercial remedies to authorized decision-makers.
• Lead complex supplier performance reviews and follow corrective actions. Coach expeditors in schedule analysis, supplier questioning, recovery follow-through, and report quality. Use lessons learned to improve methods and data quality.
• Drive follow-through on difficult receiving exceptions and incomplete final documentation so assigned packages reach closeout supported by complete records or an explicit transfer of remaining actions.

Qualifications

• At least 7 years of relevant experience in expediting, procurement, manufacturing, construction, or project supply chain, including substantial direct responsibility for complex supplier packages and delivery recovery. Equivalent combinations of relevant training and experience will be considered.

• Demonstrated ability to challenge detailed manufacturing schedules, analyze critical dependencies, and evaluate recovery options with suppliers and project teams.

• Experience verifying progress at supplier facilities and identifying material, capacity, labor, sub-supplier, and inspection constraints.

• Strong understanding of the interfaces among supplier documentation, engineering release, procurement, fabrication, testing, shipping, receiving, and closeout.

• Ability to influence supplier and project leaders, lead difficult delivery discussions, and explain risk and recommended action clearly.

• Sound commercial awareness, disciplined evidence management, and judgment about when a decision requires Contract Management, Engineering, Quality, or project leadership.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, to analyze data and review reporting accuracy. Ability to use AI assistants and large language models (LLMs) to streamline and automate daily tasks and coach others in applying these tools and validating outputs.

• Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, construction management, business, or a related field. A degree is not required when relevant experience demonstrates the required capabilities.

• EPC experience with major engineered equipment, complex fabrication, international suppliers, or multiple tiers of supply.

• Experience reviewing detailed supplier schedules and using material management systems across different platforms and project workflows.

• Experience contributing to expediting plans, supplier performance reviews, or improvements to project reporting and work processes.
