Job title: Senior Executive Underwriter, Financial Institutions - Financial Lines
About the Role AIG is seeking a Senior Executive Underwriter on the Financial Institutions team. This role handles larger, more complex accounts and may involve managing and developing staff, with increased responsibility for business results. The role may supervise a team of underwriters and contribute to strategic initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Exercise judgment, negotiate, and make sound business decisions with increased authority.
- Render alternative outcomes for difficult situations and make real-time decisions in a fast-paced environment characterized by ambiguity and change.
- Support underwriting best practices to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy.
- Assign and manage the work of a team of underwriters.
- Assist underwriters in executing strategic initiatives and provide solutions for issues (systems, guidelines, training, reports, new project requests, product amendments).
- Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers, and other line(s) of business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross-sell opportunities from brokers.
- Utilize daily reports and monitor adherence to underwriting requirements to oversee the book of business.
- Stay informed of developments in assigned territories to assess impact on current accounts and new opportunities.
- Work with management, the insured, its broker, and outside counsel on terms, pricing, and deal structure for complex risks.
- Develop strong, long-term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow the book of business.
- Identify and manage special underwriting projects as needed.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum five (5) years of Financial Lines, Agency or Brokerage experience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Advanced knowledge of the US Financial Lines business (D&O, EPL, PTL, Fidelity), including product features and regulatory environment.
- Demonstrated sales, marketing, and relationship-building experience.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment and collaborate across teams.
- Proficiency with underwriting analytical tools and technology.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $140,000 - $170,000 for NYC-based roles.
- Eligible for a bonus in accordance with applicable incentive plan.
