About this role

About the Role Climax Studios is seeking an experienced Senior Environment Artist to join our Edinburgh studio on a fully onsite basis. You will conceive and create innovative environment visuals for AAA titles and help shape artistic direction, collaborating across internal teams and with external partners. The role demands a strong portfolio, proficiency with modern tools and a passion for delivering standout game experiences.

What You'll Do

  • Create high-quality, diverse environment art assets and visuals for AAA titles
  • Work with art director, leads, engineers, and outsourcing partners to implement production-ready assets
  • Develop and optimize art production pipelines, workflows, and best practices
  • Manage deadlines and contribute to scheduling and budgeting planning
  • Mentor junior artists and provide guidance on technical and artistic best practices
  • Troubleshoot design and technical challenges and implement creative solutions
  • Stay current with cutting-edge techniques and tools and integrate them into production
  • Present and communicate progress to internal/external stakeholders

What We're Looking For

  • At least 4+ years of experience in console development with at least 2 shipped titles
  • Effective visual and verbal communication skills for directing internal or external teams or individuals
  • Excellent resource management and judgement
  • Comfortable liaising with and presenting to clients in an authoritative and professional manner
  • Self-motivated, friendly, gregarious with attention to detail and a passion for delivering the best possible game experience
  • Excellent at managing deadlines & budgets, with excellent time management skills
  • Experience developing and implementing solid art production pathways
  • Ability to find creative solutions when troubleshooting and assessing risks
  • A good understanding of cutting-edge artistic techniques and tools and the ability to implement them into current practical practices

Nice to Have

  • Environment lighting skills
  • A keen eye for scene composition
  • Experience on mobile projects is also of interest
  • Successfully worked with iterative development and rapid game play prototyping
