About the Role Wise is building an entirely new international credit program. We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the first credit offering from Wise, build a transparent and trustworthy system, and align global regulatory requirements. You will join a new team, define roadmaps, hire and mentor engineers, and drive this greenfield initiative from concept to market. What You'll Do
- Drive the technical roadmap and broader product roadmap for the credit initiative
- Partner with a dedicated product manager and cross-team stakeholders to enable issuing credit cards internationally
- Build systems for credit decisioning, tracking borrowed credit, accruing interest, repayment flows, and related functionality
- Ensure other teams support the vision and align on priorities
- Hire, lead, and coach engineers; help them grow and remove blockers to maintain velocity and quality
- Establish clear planning, release milestones, and commitments
- Own the product space and foster collaboration and continuous improvement with neighbouring teams
- Collaborate with Business, Spend, and Account squads to shape the Wise Business spending experience What We're Looking For
- Strong background in software engineering with experience designing and building complex, scalable systems; demonstrated experience in delivering reliable services in production
- Comfortable with complex domains and guiding a team through technical challenges; experienced with distributed systems and technical tradeoffs
- Hands-on experience with frontend development is a plus
- Product-minded with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to drive initiatives autonomously
- Experience working with product and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize impact
- Empathetic leader with a track record of mentoring engineers and promoting high-quality, maintainable code
- Excellent communicator capable of explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences Nice to Have
- Experience leading a team in payments/fintech or other high-stakes domains
- Experience working in a globally distributed setup
- Experience building systems serving enterprise clients at scale
