About the Role

Join Tiger Data as Senior Engineering Manager, Database, leading the Database team which owns TimescaleDB and other crucial products. You will lead multiple teams, own team execution and a practical roadmap, foster a bottom-up culture, stay deeply involved with the technology to inform design decisions, and help build an awesome team capable of delivering a fast, reliable, scalable database platform. This is a remote, full-time role on a globally distributed team focused on direct communication and accountability.

What You'll Do

• Lead, grow, and mentor a globally distributed team of database internals engineers; own hiring, performance management, career development, and team health.

• Own team execution and set the technical roadmap with Product, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.

• Partner with Platform Engineering and other leaders to deliver a world-class experience for Tiger Cloud users.

• Engage with high-value customers on escalations and translate their needs into actionable priorities for your team.

• Set a high bar for the organization and help the broader engineering team succeed.

• What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including at least 4+ years managing engineers or engineering teams.

• Track record of building and leading high-performing teams that ship industrial-strength systems software.

• Strong technical depth in distributed systems or databases; experience with C/C++ on large codebases is desirable but not required.

• Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals is a strong plus (but not required).

• Solid knowledge of SQL, query processing and database engines, concurrency control, data replication, and/or distributed systems.

• Passion for building highly reliable system software and for developing the people who build it.

• Nice to Have

• Hands-on expertise in C and PostgreSQL internals is a strong plus.

• Prior experience with building scalable cloud data platforms or database-as-a-service offerings.
