Senior Engineering Lead

About the Role We are seeking a Senior Engineering Lead to own Money Movement, Liquidity, Cash, and Asset Management. This role is pivotal to moving billions instantly and reliably at scale and to designing the foundations for Wise's next global leap. You will scale and lead teams that build a high-confidence view of global cash and the tooling for asset management with automated, smart, risk-aware decisions. What You'll Do

• Own core treasury engineering services including Order Management, Market Connector, Liquidity Planner, and Wishmaster (our funding workflow platform).

• Lead the development of a reliable, real-time liquidity view across multiple products and drive core North Star metrics, ensuring timely funds transfers.

• Design and implement advanced monitoring systems to optimize financial resource management and operational efficiency.

• Strengthen the scaling strategy to operate with greater agility as Wise grows, with robust controls and risk-aware decision-making.

• Build automated investment and risk management tooling to deploy surplus cash while respecting risk/regulatory parameters.

• Collaborate with data scientists to develop ML-based forecasts of cash inflows/outflows across currencies and jurisdictions for proactive cash positioning. What We're Looking For

• Strong software engineering background with experience designing, building, and operating complex, scalable distributed and event-driven systems in production.

• Comfortable working in a complex, high-stakes domain such as treasury, payments, or finance; able to guide teams through unique challenges.

• Ownership mindset; ability to translate technical work into business risk, cost, and customer impact.

• Experience partnering with product managers and stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize impactful work.

• Demonstrated leadership and mentoring across diverse teams; able to build high-performing, collaborative teams.

• Excellent communicator, able to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Experience leading engineering teams in treasury/fintech; scaling event-driven systems with real-time aggregations; scaling teams and systems for rapid growth. Nice to Have

• Experience leading an engineering team in treasury, fintech, or similar domain.

• Experience building and scaling event-driven architectures with real-time aggregations.

• Prior experience scaling both teams and systems to support rapid business growth. Compensation & Benefits
