Job title: Senior Embedded Systems Engineer
About the Role The Senior Embedded Systems Engineer will lead the design, testing, and lifecycle management of embedded electronics within an agile product development environment. You will collaborate with hardware, firmware, product development, and reliability teams to deliver robust architectures and reference designs that power Milwaukee Tool solutions.
What You'll Do
- Lead the design, prototype, test, and troubleshooting of embedded electronics hardware and firmware for mid to high complexity projects.
- Develop test plans and test cases/procedures for embedded systems.
- Manage the lifecycle of electronic embedded system architectures and requirements, including hardware/firmware interfaces, configuration management, and risk management.
- Support the refinement of tools and processes for system engineering in an agile, high-velocity setting.
- Communicate progress, blockers, and risks up and across the organization.
- Create and drive Work Breakdown Structures and critical milestones; maintain project schedules to meet metrics.
- Mentor junior engineers and develop a small team.
- Use laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, e-loads, DAQ) to execute tests.
- Track projects to ensure schedule adherence and Milwaukee process compliance.
- Design and qualify new designs to UL, CEC, CE, and ANSI regulatory standards.
What We're Looking For
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years in systems engineering, embedded systems, power electronics, or related field.
- Knowledge of firmware architecture and codebase reuse methodologies.
- Expertise in C programming and microcontroller peripherals.
- Expertise in power electronics circuit design.
- Ability to read schematics and component datasheets; understanding of digital interactions with firmware.
- Systems thinking and ability to apply to engineered systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills; able to exercise independent judgment under pressure.
- Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international).
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Working knowledge of Python or C++.
