About the Role Signify is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to translate end-user requirements into robust firmware for wireless sensor devices integrated into lighting luminaires. You will design and develop embedded firmware, implement lighting controllers per standards such as DALI and PWM, and integrate wireless protocols (Zigbee, BLE) to enable reliable data transfer to the IoT cloud. You’ll participate in hardware bring-up, validation, troubleshooting, prototype key modules when needed, and coach junior engineers while identifying and mitigating technical risks. What You'll Do
- Analyze and understand assigned requirements from an end-user perspective and translate them into software requirements.
- Design and develop embedded firmware for wireless sensor devices integrated into lighting luminaires.
- Implement embedded lighting controllers according to standards such as DALI and PWM.
- Integrate wireless communication protocols (e.g., Zigbee, BLE, or Wi-Fi) to ensure reliable data transfer to the IoT cloud.
- Participate in hardware bring-up, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Implement key modules and develop quick working prototypes when necessary.
- Coach junior team members in software engineering aspects.
- Identify and resolve technical risks. What We're Looking For
- 12+ years hands-on experience in embedded software development on MIPS/ARM devices.
- Proficiency in C (must) and C++ (preferred).
- Hands-on experience in embedded RTOS.
- Experience with ARM Cortex-based microcontrollers and SoCs.
- Knowledge of wireless protocols (Zigbee, BLE or Wi-Fi) and relevant stacks.
- Experience with Git repository management.
- Ability to work with hardware schematics, debugging tools, and lab instrumentation.
- NUnit for unit testing.
- Capacity to collaborate across teams and mentor colleagues as needed. Nice to Have
- Experience with Silicon Labs SoCs, Simplicity Studio and GSDK radio stack.
- IAR Embedded Workbench experience.
