Senior Embedded Engineer
Fluxton
Location: Bengaluru, India Employment Type: Full-Time Experience: 3–5 Years Work Model: 5 Days In-Office Compensation: ₹12–18 LPA + ESOPs Expected Starting Date: November 1, 2026
About Fluxton
Fluxton builds edge-enabled infrastructure for the real world. We develop cloud, edge, and hybrid platforms that power distributed systems where reliability, autonomy, and performance matter. Our technology enables organizations to choose the deployment model that best fits their operational, regulatory, and connectivity requirements.
We're starting with EV charging infrastructure, building systems that combine real-time communication, autonomous decision-making, and intelligent synchronization across cloud and edge environments.
We're looking for a Senior Embedded Engineer with 3–5 years of professional experience to take significant ownership of embedded software across Fluxton's edge platforms.
Rust is a core language for this role. You'll work on systems that interact directly with EV chargers, controllers, communication hardware, networking interfaces, and cloud infrastructure.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You'll be expected to write production code, make architectural decisions, debug complex hardware/software problems, review implementations, and help establish strong embedded engineering practices as Fluxton's platform grows.
What You'll Work On
- Design and develop embedded software for Fluxton's edge computing platforms, primarily using Rust
- Own major components of the embedded architecture from design through deployment
- Build software that interfaces directly with EV chargers, controllers, sensors, communication modules, and other infrastructure hardware
- Develop reliable communication between edge devices, chargers, and cloud services
- Build hardware interfaces, services, protocol implementations, and abstraction layers
- Work with Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Cellular, CAN Bus, RS485, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, and related technologies
- Develop software for ARM-based processors, embedded Linux systems, microcontrollers, and edge computers
- Design systems capable of operating reliably during intermittent connectivity, network disruption, hardware faults, and cloud outages
- Implement concurrency, asynchronous communication, state management, retries, timeouts, watchdogs, recovery mechanisms, logging, and diagnostics
- Debug problems spanning hardware, firmware, Linux, networking, and distributed systems
- Design and conduct testing, validation, stress testing, and reliability assessments
- Review embedded code and defend technical and architectural decisions through engineering reasoning
- Collaborate with backend, frontend, infrastructure, and hardware engineers on end-to-end system design
- Participate actively in architecture discussions and technical design decisions
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering standards and practices
- Produce clear technical documentation covering architecture, protocols, interfaces, hardware integrations, and implementation decisions
Requirements
- We're looking for an embedded engineer with 3–5 years of professional experience who can independently own technically significant parts of Fluxton's embedded platform.
Must Have
- 3–5 years of professional experience in embedded software, firmware, systems programming, or closely related engineering
- Strong programming skills in Rust
- Strong understanding of Rust concepts including ownership, borrowing, lifetimes, traits, error handling, concurrency, and memory safety
- Experience building reliable systems software using Rust
- Strong understanding of embedded systems architecture
- Experience working with embedded Linux
- Experience with ARM-based processors, microcontrollers, SBCs, or similar embedded platforms
- Understanding of electronics fundamentals and hardware/software integration
- Experience with communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, USB, Ethernet, or RS485
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, sockets, DNS, routing, and network troubleshooting
- Experience designing and debugging concurrent or asynchronous systems
- Understanding of memory management, resource constraints, and performance considerations in embedded environments
- Experience designing fault-tolerant software using retries, timeouts, recovery mechanisms, and appropriate failure handling
- Experience debugging problems across hardware, software, operating system, and network boundaries
- Experience using Git in collaborative engineering environments
- Ability to independently investigate unfamiliar hardware, protocols, and technical problems
- Ability to explain, justify, and defend engineering and architectural decisions
Nice to Have
- Experience with C and/or C++, particularly when integrating existing firmware, libraries, drivers, or vendor SDKs
- Experience with the Rust embedded ecosystem, including crates and tooling used for embedded or systems development
- Experience with Tokio or other asynchronous Rust runtimes
- Experience with Buildroot, Yocto, or custom embedded Linux distributions
- Experience with Linux system programming
- Experience with bootloaders, device trees, kernel configuration, or Linux device drivers
- Experience with MQTT, OCPP, Modbus, CAN-based protocols, or similar industrial communication protocols
- Experience building IoT or edge computing platforms
- Experience with distributed edge systems and cloud-to-device communication
- Experience with real-time or near-real-time systems
- Experience implementing OTA software or firmware updates
- Experience with device provisioning and lifecycle management
- Experience with PKI, certificates, secure device communication, or hardware-backed identity
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure
- Experience with energy management systems, BESS, solar, industrial automation, or infrastructure technology
- Experience mentoring or technically leading other engineers

Compensation & Benefits
- ₹12–18 LPA salary
- Competitive ESOP package
- Full-time role
- Direct collaboration with the founding team
- Significant ownership over Fluxton's embedded architecture and technical direction
- Opportunity to build systems deployed in real-world EV charging and energy infrastructure
- Opportunity to shape embedded engineering standards and architecture at an early-stage company
Location & Start Date
Bengaluru, India
This is a full-time, 5-day in-office role.
Expected starting date: November 1, 2026.
Hiring Process
1. Aptitude Test
A structured assessment covering analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and engineering fundamentals.
2. Screening Call
An initial conversation covering your background, previous embedded work, Rust experience, technical interests, and experience building real-world systems.
3. Technical & Personal Interview
An in-depth interview comprising:
- Live Coding — solving engineering problems in Rust while explaining your approach and reasoning
- Code Defence — reviewing and defending code, implementation decisions, assumptions, and trade-offs
- Architecture-Based Questions — designing embedded and edge systems while reasoning through reliability, communication, concurrency, hardware constraints, failure modes, and scalability
- Discussion of previous projects, engineering decisions, failures, debugging experiences, and technical ownership
We're interested in how you reason about engineering problems, not simply whether you arrive at the expected answer.
4. Take-Home Assignment
A practical engineering assignment designed to evaluate implementation quality, Rust proficiency, architecture, debugging ability, documentation, and engineering judgment.
5. Assignment Review
A detailed technical discussion of your submission. You'll walk us through your architecture and implementation, explain your decisions and trade-offs, defend your code, and discuss how you would improve or extend the system.
