Job title: Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Technician to support our Controls Solutions business. In this role, you will be responsible for testing HVAC components per agency standards, writing detailed test reports, and maintaining test equipment. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of gas and cooling controls within residential and commercial HVACR equipment and familiarity with agency standards and reporting. You will be part of a team of engineers and other technicians.
What You'll Do
- Address gauge calibration issues
- Assist with agency submittals and communicating directly with agency contacts
- Be a 5S and safety leader for the lab
- Mentor Associate Engineers and less senior technicians with preparing documentation
- Create test procedures and test fixtures
- Make recommendations to address test failures to others
- Maintain records on tests, equipment maintenance, and calibration
- Manage lab test schedules and work with Engineers to resolve scheduling conflicts
- Plan, organize, coach, and lead laboratory technicians as required
- Serve as a primary lab contact for Facilities and Maintenance
- Specify and request new/replacement lab equipment
- Train Associate Engineers and new Engineering employees on test procedures
What We're Looking For
- Minimum Degree: Associate of Science; Mechanical Engineering Technology or Electrical Engineering Technology
- 6+ years of experience in HVACR component testing and agency certification
- Familiarity with test equipment such as environmental chambers, data acquisition systems, and measurement devices
- Advanced knowledge of gas furnaces, water heating, and/or HVACR systems
- Analytical problem-solving skills
- Familiarity with international agency standards applicable to our products
- Experience with scheduling tools like Microsoft Project or similar
- Experience with report writing and analysis tools
- Testing expert in either Heating Controls or Cooling Controls
Nice to Have
- Gas Valve agency certification
- Ability to present and summarize test results to internal teams
- Experience in NPD of HVAC controls and advise engineering on testing for agency requirements
- Advanced LabVIEW skills
