About this role
Job title: Senior Electrical Engineer
About the Role The Senior Electrical Engineer will join Milwaukee Tool's Chargers and Portable Power group to lead design, prototyping, testing, and end-to-end development of embedded electronics hardware and firmware powering batteries, motors, and power electronics. You will translate requirements into robust electronics solutions for NPD projects and drive mass production launches with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes hands-on development, technical leadership, and ongoing innovation in power electronics, firmware, and AI-enabled capabilities.
What You'll Do
- Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded electronics hardware and firmware, leading end-to-end design activities and reviews across topology, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototyping, and test plan execution.
- Partner with cross-functional project teams to drive trade-offs and align electronics requirements for NPD projects.
- Communicate effectively up, down, and across the organization, translating complex power electronics topics to technical and non-technical team members.
- Research and engage with prospective suppliers on the selection of new technologies including power conversion ICs, controllers, magnetics, and supporting analog and digital components.
- Demonstrate Milwaukee Tool’s culture of high performance by independently creating Work Breakdown Structures, driving critical milestones, and helping the team resolve technical and execution barriers.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering tools, processes, and team capability as product portfolio and organization scale.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in power electronics or mixed-signal hardware design, preferably supporting chargers, adapters, or inverter-based systems.
- Fundamental understanding of lithium-ion battery charging principles and associated power conversion interfaces.
- Strong understanding of switching power supply topologies, magnetics, control methods, and power device selection.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and mentor engineers without formal authority.
- Passion for hands-on development, solving complex problems, and contributing to building high-performance engineering teams.
- Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).
