Job Summary
Design, develop, and oversee electrical systems to ensure functionality, safety, and efficiency in buildings and structures ensuring compliance with standards and regulators.
Duties & Responsibilities / Deliverables
System Design:
- Develop and design electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm systems, and communication networks, to meet the specific requirements of buildings and projects.
Energy Efficiency:
- Implement energy-efficient solutions and sustainable practices to minimize energy consumption and reduce the environmental impact of buildings.
Project Management:
- Oversee the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with the required quality standards.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that electrical designs, installations, and systems comply with applicable building codes, regulations, safety standards, and industry requirements.
Problem-Solving:
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues relating to electrical systems throughout the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance phases.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, contractors, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure the seamless integration of electrical systems into building designs.
System Performance:
- Monitor and assess the performance of electrical systems, identifying opportunities for improvement, optimization, energy efficiency, and enhanced operational reliability.
Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain detailed technical drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, schedules, and other documentation required for the construction, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
Innovation:
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in electrical engineering technologies, systems, materials, and methods, applying innovative solutions to improve project outcomes.
Safety and Reliability:
- Ensure that electrical systems are safe, reliable, efficient, and durable, while minimizing the risk of equipment failures, electrical faults, operational disruptions, and safety hazards.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputable University.
- Post-graduate degree(s) will be added advantage.
- Professional certification and accreditation by the Nigerian Society of Engineers is a requirement.
- Proven expertise with a minimum of 13 years relevant experience in designing, developing and maintaining Electrical systems in the building and construction industry.
- Certification in Project Management is an added advantage.
- Ability to multitask including coordinating and managing several projects, with solid project and change management skills.
- Ability to align, inspire and influence outsourced/external partners and teams for results.
- A can-do attitude, strong leadership, and organizational management skills.
- Good problem solving, innovation, analytical, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Membership of professional bodies, like COREN essential.
