Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Lekki, Lagos. The successful candidate will lead the design, implementation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems for renewable energy projects (including solar, hybrid, and embedded generation), power distribution networks, and related infrastructure. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and team mentoring in a fast-growing sustainability-focused organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, specification, and engineering of electrical systems for renewable energy plants, mini-grids, distribution networks, and associated infrastructure.
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, load calculations, protection schemes, and technical specifications in accordance with Nigerian and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NESREA, NERC, etc.).
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and handover of electrical works, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of equipment (transformers, switchgear, inverters, generators, protection relays, cabling, etc.) and support procurement processes.
  • Perform system studies including load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, and reliability analysis.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical faults; develop preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and technicians; review their designs and work outputs.
  • Collaborate with project managers, civil/structural teams, consultants, contractors, and clients to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards on all sites.
  • Prepare technical reports, progress updates, and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies in renewable energy, smart grids, energy storage, and power systems.
  • Site visits and project travel within Lagos and across Nigeria as required.

Requirements

  • Education & Professional Qualifications
  • B. Eng./HND in Electrical Engineering (Master’s Degree is an advantage).
  • COREN registration is required; membership of NSE or equivalent professional body preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, with at least 4–5 years in a senior or lead role.

  • Proven experience in power systems, renewable energy (solar PV, hybrid systems), distribution networks, or utility-scale projects.

  • Hands-on experience with design software (AutoCAD, ETAP, DigSILENT, PVSyst, or equivalent) and protection/relay systems.

  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) regulations, grid codes, and relevant standards.
