Job title: Senior DSD (Diagnostic Systems Division) Project Management Support
About the Role Senior DSD Project Management Support provides technical laboratory support and division portfolio management to a government customer at Fort Detrick. The role involves managing cost, schedule and performance parameters, coordinating with ORTA and PIs, and supporting division-level research portfolios and contractual agreements. Expect a mix of laboratory-focused duties and cross-functional program management activities.
What You'll Do
- Provide technical laboratory support for ISO 17034 accredited reference materials production, including strain accession, production material, strain characterization studies, assay reagents and controls, inventory, and distribution.
- Maintain visibility on cost, schedule, and programmatic performance for the Division’s portfolio; manage division-level project management efforts (~50%).
- Exercise project management best practices to support select research projects; coordinate with ORTA and PIs to initiate/revise agreements, track milestones, and ensure deliverables.
- Prepare and review new research proposals and change requests; verify PRC packets are complete and routed properly; resolve issues with support areas.
- Track division submissions to RPO’s BIP Office, assist with agreement routing and approvals, and maintain knowledge of agreement processes.
- Track staffing (FTE) and consolidate data for Command Budget Estimate (CBE) and other financial/taskers; assist with service rate calculations when assigned.
- Monitor and report on project schedules and performance; identify and mitigate risks; develop risk/get-well plans for troubled projects.
- Manage monthly budget execution, spend plans, and access financial systems (GFEBS, DMLSS) to track funds expending; support PIs in fund execution and communicating spend plans.
- Track and manage Change Requests (CRs); perform quality checks on CR documentation and ensure alignment with cost/schedule/scope changes.
- Provide data, document, and manuscript support with quality control/reviews for project-related documents.

- Experience applying project management best practices; capable of coordinating across divisions and with external partners.
- Willingness to interact closely with ORTA and PIs to manage agreements, milestones, and invoicing.
- Familiarity with budget tracking, staffing (FTE), and reporting requirements; comfortable using GFEBS and DMLSS.
- Proactive risk management and ability to develop risk mitigation strategies and get-well plans.
Nice to Have
- Experience with ISO 17034 accreditation processes or reference materials production.
- Prior experience in a government, industry, or academic partnership environment involving CRs and PRCs.
- Knowledge of or exposure to ORTA processes and government contracting workflows.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $105,000 – $119,000 per year (exempt)
