About this role

About the Role Fitch Ratings' U.S. and Canada Corporates Rating group is seeking a Senior Director to join the Energy team. The role will involve evaluating corporate debt issuers, leading a small team of 2-3 analysts, and serving as a primary analyst for U.S. and Canadian Oil & Gas credits. Intellectual curiosity and the ability to articulate complex analytical topics are essential in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

What You'll Do

  • Cover a portfolio of 15-20 E&P, Refining, and Oil Field Services companies across investment-grade and speculative-grade ratings
  • Articulate Fitch’s credit views and sector outlook in meetings, conference calls, industry roundtables, and in written research
  • Be a highly visible presence for external stakeholders in the ratings process, including industry management teams, private equity sponsors, buy-side and sell-side analysts, and the media
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates and related credit groups
  • Foster a positive and collaborative Energy team and contribute to the overall ethos of the U.S. and Canada Corporates rating team in line with Fitch’s strategic goals

What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in capital markets and/or credit analysis with energy sector coverage/knowledge
  • Keen intellectual curiosity and commitment to continuous learning; ability to dissect and articulate complex topics
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience managing, mentoring, and developing people with a collaborative, team-based approach
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, advanced degrees, or CFA designation a plus
  • Some travel; adherence to Fitch's Onsite Flex time policy

Nice to Have

  • Network of relationships within debt capital markets and energy sectors
  • Experience across both investment grade and leveraged finance
  • Demonstrated track record of nurturing talent and developing junior analysts

Compensation & Benefits

  • For New York and Chicago roles, expected base pay range is $175,000–$250,000 per year. Base pay is part of Fitch’s total compensation and may be complemented by bonuses, long-term incentives, or other benefits.
