About this role

Description

Why this role matters

Join a high-visibility, cross-enterprise team that delivers data the business and the regulators rely on. As a Senior Data Solutions Analyst you’ll lead projects supporting Liberty Mutual’s regulatory reporting, data procurement, and modernization initiatives. Your work will directly influence statistical reporting, help reduce regulatory risk, and accelerate the company’s move to scalable modern data solutions.

  • This is a grade 15 posting. The actual internal level/grade and compensation for this role will depend on the candidate’s geographic location, overall experience, and skill level.

  • This is a remote role. However, candidates who live within 50 miles of Boston, MA; Portsmouth, NH; Seattle, WA; Indianapolis, IN; Columbus, OH; or Plano, TX will follow a hybrid schedule, coming into the office two days per week.

Why you should consider this opportunity

  • Technical stretch and modernization: Design and prototype data solutions that support regulatory reporting, data calls, and market conduct exams. Support the modernization of our data pipelines, helping ensure the data we need for regulators is available in future data environments.

  • Use of AI tools: Use Claude.ai as a tool to support your work, such as analysis, coding, and documentation, along with the other AI tools we use, such as LibertyGPT, Rovo, and Copilot.

  • Collaborative environment: Partner with product owners, enterprise architecture, compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that balance speed and accuracy.

  • High impact and visibility: Lead projects that are seen by senior leaders and regulators. Your work helps keep the company compliant with regulators and strengthens enterprise-wide data practices.

  • Career growth: Gain exposure to product, claims, and regulatory domains, expand your technical skill set, and build a stronger internal network across business and technology teams.

  • Mentorship and leadership opportunities: Provide guidance and coaching to associates and lead cross-functional groups.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the planning, delivery, and maintenance of prototype data solutions that meet regulatory and business needs, including scoping, work planning, status reporting, and risk management on projects of moderate to high complexity.

  • Support mandatory regulatory and statistical reporting with accurate, auditable data deliveries.

  • Ensure data quality and attest to the accuracy and completeness of data delivered for regulatory use.

  • Work with stakeholders across Liberty Mutual to gather requirements, set priorities and timelines, and translate business needs into technical solutions.

  • Partner with IT to define requirements and validate regulatory data and procurement methods as part of modernization efforts.

  • Mentor and coach colleagues, and share knowledge with other functional teams.

Qualifications

Who we’re looking for

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree and ~5+ years in data analytics or a related data solutions role, including coding for data management, data warehousing, or other data environments.

  • Tooling: Comfortable across the broader data and analytics toolset used for the role (e.g., Snowflake, SAS Viya, SQL, GitHub), with the ability to use AI-assisted tools (e.g., GPT/Copilot/Claude) to improve productivity.

  • Governance & quality: Working knowledge of metadata, lineage, business definitions, compliance, and data security as applied to project work.

  • Data extraction: Experience extracting data utilizing data stores (i.e. EDW, PLA, PEM).

  • Project management: Demonstrated experience leading projects from scoping through delivery.

  • Regulatory reporting: Strong understanding of industry and regulatory reporting requirements, with experience in insurance regulatory reporting (e.g., NAIC data calls, state DOI submissions, market conduct exams) preferred.

  • Analytical mind: Candidate must be analytical and curious, with the ability to read ambiguous regulatory guidance, ask the right questions, and translate vague instructions into precise data requirements and testable rules. Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Leadership & autonomy: Proven ability to lead work cross-functionally and influence with limited guidance.
