About this role
Senior Data Scientist
Praescient Analytics is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Persistent GEOINT Data Scientist to support the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) on-site at Buckley Space Force Base, CO. In this role, you will apply advanced statistical modeling, machine learning, and scalable data engineering techniques to high-priority Overhead Persistent Infrared (OPIR) and persistent sensor datasets. You will work closely with intelligence analysts, operational stakeholders, and engineering teams to transform complex raw sensor feeds into interactive analytical dashboards, automated pipelines, and actionable intelligence products.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Dashboard & Tool Engineering: Design, build, and deploy interactive analytical dashboards and visual exploitation tools tailored for OPIR and persistent data characterization and assessments.
- Pipeline & Anomaly Detection Automation: Architect automated ETL pipelines, robust data quality assurance checks, and anomaly detection algorithms to process and validate persistent sensor streams.
- Advanced Analytics & Machine Learning: Apply statistical modeling, machine learning algorithms, and predictive analytics to persistent sensor datasets—with an emphasis on OPIR and vector data formats—to identify patterns and extract operational insights.
- Sensor Performance Characterization: Establish baseline metrics, KPIs, and specialized performance assessment tools to evaluate and characterize sensor system health and tracking capabilities.
- Briefings & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide technical briefings, analytical readouts, user training, and direct operational support to end-users and key mission partners.
- Documentation: Author and maintain technical documentation, pipeline architecture diagrams, user guides, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Pipeline & Tool Development: Five (5)+ year of hands-on experience designing end-to-end analytical solutions—from raw requirements to production dashboards, ETL pipelines, and anomaly detection workflows.
- Core Technical Stack: Demonstrated proficiency in Python and/or R, as well as SQL for complex querying and relational database management.
- Data Science & Statistics: Solid grounding in statistical inference, quantitative methodology, predictive modeling, and large-scale data analysis.
- Security Clearance: Active Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance (polygraph may be required per customer guidelines).
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Domain Knowledge: Prior experience handling OPIR, persistent surveillance, and complex vector geospatial data formats.
- Visualization Tools: Proficiency in modern visualization frameworks and business intelligence tools such as Plotly, Dash, Streamlit, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Machine Learning Frameworks: Experience using libraries such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or XGBoost for classification, clustering, and predictive workflows.
- Cloud & Distributed Computing: Hands-on experience developing within cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and distributed big data environments (Apache Spark, Hadoop, Databricks).
- Environment: Familiarity working in defense, intelligence community (IC), or joint space operations centers.
What you can expect from us:
- Real opportunity for career growth in an environment where your achievements will be celebrated
- Constant collaboration with numerous teams to ensure client success
- A team that respects and embraces your ideas and expertise
- Coworkers that are motivated by pursuing excellence, rather than the prospect of personal gain
- A workplace dedicated to supporting and bettering public safety and government agencies
