KEBA Novi Sad is part of the Austrian KEBA Group, a technology company with more than 50 years of experience in industrial automation, energy management, banking automation, e-mobility and logistics.

Location & work model

This role is based in Novi Sad. We work in a hybrid setup with one guaranteed home office day per week, while additional remote days are possible depending on the project and team needs. Since we are building a new engineering capability from the ground up, we believe close day-to-day collaboration is essential. That's why this is primarily an on-site role.

Help us build KEBA's Data Platform

A year ago, KEBA launched Project Octopus – an initiative to establish the foundation for data, analytics and AI across the entire KEBA Group. Since then, we have delivered our first data products, explored different architectural approaches and built expertise in data engineering. We are now entering the next phase: scaling proven concepts into a sustainable data platform that can support the entire organization.

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer who wants to help build an enterprise data platform from the ground up. You will work alongside experienced internal and external data engineers, collaborate with domain experts across multiple business areas, contribute to technical decisions and help mentor less experienced engineers. We are building a platform for the next decade—not for the next sprint. That also shapes the way we work: we value sustainable pace, thoughtful engineering and long-term thinking over constant firefighting. What will you actually do?

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help shape, build and operate a reliable, scalable enterprise data platform while delivering business-impacting data products. You will work closely with experienced internal and external experts, helping define engineering standards, data architecture and the future direction of our platform.

Responsibilities

• Shape data architecture, data modeling approaches and engineering standards
• Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines and data stores
• Contribute to the evolution of our Microsoft Fabric-based platform while evaluating complementary technologies where appropriate
• Work closely with domain experts to translate business needs into technical solutions
• Support data governance initiatives and improve data quality, consistency and discoverability
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth
• Take ownership of technical topics and help drive the future direction of our data platform

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Backend Engineering, Platform Engineering or a similar role
• Experience building reliable data pipelines, integrations or data-driven applications
• Strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of data modeling
• Proficiency in Python or another modern programming language
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and business stakeholders
• Curiosity, ownership and willingness to help shape a growing data engineering capability
• Professional proficiency in English

Nice to have:

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks or similar modern data platforms

• Familiarity with Azure, AWS or Google Cloud Platform

• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives

• Interest in data architecture, governance and platform engineering
