Job title: Senior Data Engineer
About the Role This Senior Data Engineer is responsible for leading the design and management of scalable data solutions that enable product and clinical innovation. This role drives data architecture, process automation, and cross-functional data workflows while establishing engineering best practices and mentoring team members to ensure high-quality, data-driven outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Lead the definition, development, and maintenance of database solutions.
- Manage and prioritize data team tasks.
- Drive support and optimization of data processes and automations.
- Oversee data preparation and analysis for regulatory submissions.
- Translate product and clinical needs to a data architecture.
- Lead cross-team data workflow with Algo, Clinical, Verification and Product teams.
- Establish data engineering with the best practices and standards.
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to team members.
- Quality Specific Goals: Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position. Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines. Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required. Support compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before completing Design Outputs/Program Deliverables. Participate in continuous improvement activities by identifying and appropriately escalating process and product quality gaps, providing solutions when possible.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data management and curation with Python, Excel
- 2+ years in team leadership or management role.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Experience in hiring, mentoring, and performance management.
- In-depth knowledge of SQL and query optimizations.
- Experience with file formats such as JSON, CSV, Parquet, FHIR, DICOM.
- Experience with Dataframe-based libraries (Pandas, Polars, PySpark).
- Experience with writing and overseeing unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Strong team player with proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
- Collaborative and communicative style, able to adapt to change and guide others through transitions.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with cloud providers. (Such as AWS/GCP/Azure)
