Job title: Senior Data Engineer (f/m/d)
About the Role Senior Data Engineer within the Data-Driven Project Modelling (DPM) team at Siemens Energy. You’ll translate complex business requirements from finance and warranty management into scalable data solutions, design and enhance data models, and build robust data pipelines and backend platform capabilities in Azure Databricks as part of a small Agile Scrum team.
What You'll Do
- Drive technical initiatives in a small Agile Scrum team to design and deliver scalable data solutions.
- Develop and maintain the Data-Driven Project Modelling (DPM) engine, following DevOps best practices to support strategic decision-making, risk assessments, business cases, and financial reporting.
- Collaborate with a multinational team of technical and business experts to translate business logic into data product development.
- Provide support and documentation for end-users to enable transparent self-service usage of DPM applications and solutions.
- Be proactive, take ownership, and independently suggest and implement innovative solutions to create value for key stakeholders.
- Build and maintain data models, data pipelines, and backend platform capabilities in Azure Databricks.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience (minimum 3–5 years) as a data engineer with hands-on Python or similar programming language, SQL, and modern large-scale data processing tools like Apache Spark.
- Deep understanding of ELT/ETL processes, data governance, modelling concepts (Star/Snowflake), lakehouse architectures, and interfaces to visualization tools like Power BI.
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, GCP) and knowledge of DevOps best practices (Agile frameworks, version control, CI/CD, unit testing).
- Collaborative mindset in an international environment with a high degree of ownership, integrity, self-motivation, and independence.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with a customer-centric approach, delivering high-quality results under pressure.
- Willingness to collaborate with non-technical finance stakeholders to build technically scalable solutions with immediate business value.
- Experience with state managed infrastructure-as-code tools, and knowledge of financial processes, specifically warranty management within finance; plus for rolling out agentic AI solutions in production.
