Job title: Senior Cybersecurity Engineer (US Federal)
About the Role This role will support one or more direct or indirect contracts with the U.S. Federal Government, and due to federal government security requirements, all Workday personnel on these contracts must be United States citizens. The position may require on-site work at client locations in the DC, MD, and VA (DMV) area. You will join the Infrastructure and Platform Engineering team as a Senior Engineer, focusing on building, scaling, observing, and maintaining a Kubernetes-based platform to enable rapid, reliable delivery by the engineering organization. The work involves security tooling, standards, and technical controls to support the platforms and Workday’s infrastructure. What You'll Do
- Design and implement solutions for our Kubernetes platform, including infrastructure automation, CI/CD pipelines, observability, and security tooling.
- Build and maintain core platform components ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and application deployments using Terraform and Argo CD.
- Troubleshoot and provide support for platform-related issues, collaborating with peer development teams to resolve problems.
- Implement and maintain security standard methodologies and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Create and maintain thorough documentation for platform components and processes; share knowledge across the team.
- Collaborate with other engineers and development teams across multiple locations and time zones.
- Stay current with the latest technologies and trends in the platform engineering space.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with large-scale cloud infrastructure, DevOps, security, and software development engineering.
- US citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a U.S. government-issued security clearance; an active TS/SCI w/CI Poly is preferred.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, Argo CD, and security/compliance practices for cloud platforms.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; growth mindset and accountability.
- Ability to work on-site or in a distributed team across time zones as needed.
