About the Role As a Senior Cyber Security Engineer, you'll help Bitpanda stay ahead of threats by building capabilities that detect attacks, respond to incidents and strengthen our security posture. You'll combine deep technical expertise with engineering excellence to evolve security operations, drive automation at scale and partner across the business to embed security into everything we build.

What You'll Do

• Own the strategy and quality of our detection library in Elastic Security (ES|QL/KQL), designing high-fidelity detections mapped to real-world attacker techniques while continuously improving coverage and reducing noise.
• Drive incident response and threat hunting across AWS, Elastic and Datadog; refine response playbooks and turn incidents into lasting improvements.
• Build automation that scales security using SOAR, APIs and custom tooling to reduce manual effort while increasing speed, consistency and resilience.
• Strengthen Bitpanda's security posture by improving cloud monitoring, system hardening and tooling across our AWS environment; partner with engineering to proactively eliminate risk and support ISO 27001, PCI DSS and DORA.
• Act as a technical leader within Security, mentoring engineers, influencing architecture and championing security best practices across Bitpanda.

What We're Looking For

• 4+ years of hands-on security engineering experience with deep expertise in incident response, threat hunting, SIEM, digital forensics and scripting.
• Built and evolved security operations; not just operated them.
• Experience designing detections, automating workflows and improving security processes that deliver measurable outcomes.
• Strong experience securing cloud-native environments, particularly AWS, with expertise in system hardening, network security, IAM and security monitoring.
• Experience with Elastic Security, ES|QL and KQL is highly desirable.
• Ownership mindset, pragmatic approach and ability to lead initiatives from idea to implementation; excellent collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Elastic Security experience is highly desirable; familiarity with Datadog is a plus.
• Prior experience mentoring and building secure systems at scale.
