About the Role Microsoft seeks a Senior Critical Environment Battery Monitoring System Engineer to design, implement, and maintain battery monitoring systems for critical IT environments. The role emphasizes reliability, safety, and incident readiness of power and backup systems across data centers and hybrid work sites. You will collaborate with facilities, software engineering, and operations teams to ensure continuous availability of critical infrastructure. What You'll Do
- Design, implement, and maintain Battery Monitoring System solutions for data centers and other critical environments, ensuring reliability and safety of power and backup systems.
- Integrate sensors, telemetry, alarms, and dashboards; develop predictive maintenance capabilities and incident response playbooks.
- Collaborate with facilities, software engineering, and operations teams to optimize monitoring, alerting, and performance metrics.
- Lead technical investigations, troubleshoot complex failures, and drive improvements in hardware integration and software tooling. What We're Looking For
- Experience designing or operating battery monitoring systems, UPS, DCIM, environmental sensors, and power infrastructure in critical environments.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to work with cross-functional teams across facilities, IT, and software.
- Software engineering or scripting experience and ability to analyze data to drive reliability improvements.
- Familiarity with safety standards, compliance requirements, and incident response processes in data centers. Nice to Have
- Experience with data center power systems, battery technology, firmware integration, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
- Knowledge of telemetry protocols, cloud platforms, and visualization tools for monitoring and analytics.
