About the Role Navan's Legal Team seeks a versatile, business-minded attorney with 5-7 years of experience to be the primary legal partner for Navan's travel products and a key contributor on expense management matters. The role spans B2B and B2C travel products and operations across Navan's global footprint, including product counseling, commercial agreements, regulatory compliance, and new business initiatives. Based in San Francisco, California, this position supports a fast‑growing, globally scaled platform. What You'll Do
- Provide expert, calibrated legal advice to Navan's business in the US and global offices (Europe, UK, Israel) on product, commercial and regulatory issues across Navan's B2B and B2C travel products and expense management platform.
- Advise product, operations and supplier strategy teams on legal issues including partnerships, privacy, travel regulation, consumer terms, advertising and other regulatory matters relevant to product development.
- Review, draft and negotiate commercial agreements (travel supply, distribution, partnership, advertising/marketing, expense-related vendor and technology service provider agreements) domestically and internationally.
- Proactively educate business partners on legal risks and regulatory developments affecting travel and expense products, and help teams build compliance into planning processes.
- Provide legal support for Navan's expense management products (Navan Expense and Navan Connect), including product features, payment processing, card program compliance and related vendor agreements.
- Partner with and manage outside counsel on specialized matters (regulatory filings, international compliance and litigation support) as needed. What We're Looking For
- J.D. degree and membership in good standing in at least one state bar; minimum 5-7 years practicing attorney; prior in-house counseling experience at a technology company strongly preferred.
- Ideal background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions; strong e-commerce experience (privacy, advertising law, product counseling, consumer-facing product terms and other regulatory issues); travel industry regulations or payment card/financial services compliance a plus.
- Clear, crisp communication, exceptional judgment, and a practical, business-minded approach; ability to drive results and keep pace with Navan's rapid global growth while handling high volume of complex, time-sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
- Track record of establishing strong working relationships with business clients and cross-functional partners.
