Senior Counsel, Intellectual Property Litigation will manage and lead U.S. and international patent disputes, partnering with outside counsel and in-house teams to develop case strategies across all stages of litigation and patent prosecution. The role includes trial support, discovery, witness interviews, and counsel on IP strategy to support Amgen's business and research goals. Travel 15-20% domestically and globally; preference for Thousand Oaks, CA, but remote in the US is possible.
Manage and participate in all aspects of U.S. and international patent disputes in courts and administrative tribunals from identification through resolution. Develop and drive case strategies with outside counsel and in-house teams, including infringement, validity, and enforceability positions. Hands-on involvement in witness interviews, discovery (depositions, production and responses), motion and brief drafting, trial preparation (witness selection, exhibits, jury instructions), and participation at trial and on appeal. Counsel on intellectual property strategies aligned with Amgen’s business and research endeavors. Travel 15-20% domestically and globally. Note: While based in Thousand Oaks, CA is preferred, roles may be remote in the US.
Experience as an IP litigator with a focus on patent disputes, including U.S. and international matters. Ability to work collaboratively with outside counsel and in-house teams. Hands-on experience with discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation. Strong written and oral communication skills and strategic thinking. Willingness to travel domestically and globally (15-20%).
