About the Role Xylem is seeking a Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist to join our Auburn, NY production site and advance operational excellence. You will lead cross-functional CI initiatives, strengthen Lean capabilities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across the site, delivering measurable improvements in cost, quality, and productivity. You will partner with leaders and frontline teams to identify opportunities, implement practical solutions, and sustain results.
What You'll Do
- Lead cross-functional continuous improvement projects to enhance site performance and long-term capability
- Streamline manufacturing and business processes to reduce waste and improve workflow efficiency
- Drive labor reduction, waste elimination, inventory optimization, and cost savings
- Facilitate kaizen and rapid improvement events using Lean Six Sigma tools
- Apply root-cause problem-solving techniques and support teams in removing barriers to performance
- Serve as a change agent across the organization, influencing stakeholders and fostering a culture of continuous learning
- Collaborate across functions and potentially contribute to broader Xylem CI initiatives beyond the Auburn site
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, with 1–5 years of manufacturing experience using continuous improvement methodologies
- Strong understanding of Lean and CI tools; experience managing project plans for large-scale initiatives
- Ability to lead change, influence cross-functional teams, and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels
- Commitment to continued professional growth, including pursuit of advanced Lean or Six Sigma certifications
Nice to Have
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or Lean certification
- Experience in low-volume, high-mix manufacturing (machining, assembly, or welding)
- Experience in a unionized environment; familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills including Project and Visio; VBA programming or database querying is a plus
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $110,000 – $120,000 plus bonus
