About the Role Join Deloitte's Gi3 practice in Deloitte Tax LLP as a Senior Consultant focused on Sustainability and ESG-related Federal C&I programs. You will advise clients on sustainability and ESG incentives, analyze and document opportunities, and help clients achieve ESG goals while collaborating with leadership to identify process improvements and deliver high-value services.
What You'll Do
- Facilitate Federal C&I engagements related to sustainability and ESG, including programs under the Internal Revenue Code (IRC) such as: IRC 45Q Carbon Capture Tax Credit, IRC 48 Investment Tax Credit, IRC 45 Production Tax Credit, IRC 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit, IRC 1400Z Qualified Opportunity Zones, IRC 45D New Markets Tax Credit.
- Deliver value by identifying opportunities and advising clients on eligibility requirements.
- Maintain and develop strong internal and client relationships; demonstrate sound judgment and a quality-first approach to evaluating eligibility.
- Develop processes with colleagues in other technical specialties to perform benefit calculations.
- Collaborate with member firms, including Advisory and Consulting, to execute work streams such as valuation studies, tax equity modeling, and life cycle assessment (LCA) studies.
- Identify potential issues and propose solutions to leadership; implement process improvement strategies.
- Ensure accurate and timely delivery of engagement deliverables (presentation decks, executive summaries, credit calculations, completed tax forms, supporting files, IRS audit responses).
- Monitor legislative and regulatory tax developments and present opportunities to assist clients.
- Provide support with internal initiatives and special tax-related projects.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to perform responsibilities within a hybrid work model requiring co-location in person 2–3 days per week for US-based professionals.
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, engineering, technology, or related field.
- 3+ years’ experience in a related field.
- Demonstrated analytical and research skills; effective verbal and written communication.
- Proven leadership skills; strong judgment, problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and proactively develop internal and external relationships.
- Ability to travel up to 25% based on work and client needs.
- One of the following accreditations: Licensed CPA (in state of practice if eligible to sit for the CPA); If not CPA eligible: Licensed attorney; Enrolled Agent.
- Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Professional Engineer (PE).
- Advanced degree such as Masters of Tax, JD, and/or LLM preferred.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills; ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working in a virtual and/or global environment; passion for leveraging technology and exploring new technology solutions.
- Excellent research, writing, and presentation skills.
- Previous Big 4 or large CPA or law firm experience is a plus.
