About this role
Optis Consulting is hiring a Senior Consultant, Strategy and Advisory to join our Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, or Montreal team.
You will help clients rethink how they source, buy, and manage suppliers, using a modern toolkit: Source-to-Pay platforms like Coupa, Ivalua, and SAP Ariba, enterprise AI tools, and the data cloud platforms where procurement data now lives. One week you are building a category strategy with a CPO. The next, you are turning messy spend data into an AI-assisted savings pipeline.
This role requires strong analytical ability, commercial acumen, and a deep understanding of sourcing, procurement strategy, and category management. The ideal candidate thrives in a consulting environment, can translate complex data into clear insights, and enjoys engaging with executive-level stakeholders to shape high-impact procurement strategies.
Requirements
-
WHY
-
THIS ROLE
-
Get in early on AI in procurement. Most
-
procurement teams are still working out what AI means for them. You will help
-
answer that question across many clients, and build the playbooks and
-
accelerators that shape how our practice delivers.
-
Strategy and execution in one seat. You will not
-
hand off a deck and walk away. You will design the strategy, prove it with
-
data, and help stand up the tools and processes that make it stick.
-
Build a rare skill set. Work
-
hands on across leading Source-to-Pay suites, enterprise AI platforms, and data
-
clouds.
-
Real responsibility, early. Optis works
-
with high growth through Fortune level clients, and is small enough that your
-
ideas change how we work. Strong performers grow fast here.
-
RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Sourcing
-
& Category Strategy
-
Lead diagnostics and maturity assessments
-
across the Source-to-Pay cycle to find where value is being lost.
-
Build category strategies across direct and
-
indirect spend that deliver savings, resilience, and supplier innovation.
-
Run sourcing initiatives end to end, from
-
market analysis and RFx design through negotiation support and award.
-
Build business cases and transformation
-
roadmaps that tie every recommendation to a measurable outcome.
-
AI-Enabled
-
Procurement
-
Use enterprise AI tools to accelerate spend
-
classification, contract review, supplier research, and RFx drafting.
-
Design and prototype AI-assisted workflows and
-
agents with clients, and help them move from pilot to everyday use.
-
Help clients put practical guardrails around AI
-
in procurement, covering data access, accuracy checks, and governance.
-
Build reusable tools and accelerators that make
-
the team faster and sharper on every engagement.
-
Data
-
& Technology
-
Bring procurement data from ERP, S2P, and
-
supplier sources together on data cloud platforms to create a single, trusted
-
view of spend.
-
Turn that data into insight: spend cubes,
-
savings pipelines, supplier performance dashboards, and early risk signals.
-
Advise on S2P technology roadmaps and platform
-
selection, and partner with our implementation teams to bring designs to life.
-
Supplier
-
Performance & Risk
-
Design supplier segmentation, performance
-
management, and third-party risk frameworks, integrating ESG where it matters
-
to the client.
-
Define KPIs and scorecards, and use live data
-
to keep them current instead of treating them as a once-a-year exercise.
-
Client
-
Leadership & Practice Growth
-
Present insights and recommendations to senior
-
executives, and become a trusted advisor to them.
-
Shape operating models, roles, and governance
-
so new ways of working last after we leave.
-
Contribute to proposals and thought leadership,
-
mentor junior team members, and help grow the practice.
-
QUALIFICATIONS
-
3+ years of experience in procurement,
-
sourcing, or supply chain, ideally within a consulting or professional services
-
environment.
-
Hands-on experience across Source-to-Pay
-
platforms such as Coupa, Ivalua, Zip, SAP Ariba, GEP, or similar, whether
-
through implementation, configuration, or day-to-day use.
-
Practical experience using enterprise AI tools
-
to get real work done, and a point of view on where AI helps procurement and
-
where it does not.
-
A solid grounding in strategic sourcing,
-
category management, and supplier management.
-
The ability to turn complex data into a clear
-
story and present it with confidence to senior stakeholders.
-
Curiosity, initiative, and comfort working
-
through ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.
-
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain,
-
Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
-
Nice to have
-
Experience building AI agents or automations
-
for business workflows.
-
Exposure to procurement-specific analytics,
-
intake-to-procure, or AI tools.
-
Experience with third-party risk management or
-
sustainable sourcing programs.
-
TRAVEL
-
Ability to travel within Canada and the United
-
States, up to 40% of the time.
