Job title: Senior Conflicts Attorney
About the Role McCarter & English is seeking a Senior Conflicts Attorney to join the Firm’s New Business Intake team. The role may be remote or hybrid from any office location and reports to the General Counsel. The Senior Conflicts Attorney reviews conflict check reports, identifies conflicts, and manages their resolution across the Firm’s offices.
What You'll Do
- Review conflict reports prepared for business intake; identify potential legal and business conflicts; provide detailed analysis and advice to partners; collaborate to resolve conflicts.
- Assist in drafting and approving engagement letters; edit letters drafted by others.
- Draft conflict waivers and facilitate waiver requests.
- Review conflict reports for the new hire process; advise HR, Strategic Growth Committee, and leadership; advise new hires on conflicts.
- Oversee implementation and maintenance of ethical walls and other legal screens.
- Guide a team of Conflict Analysts and New Business Analysts on best practices for corporate family research and conflict report preparation.
- Answer queries from attorneys and staff regarding conflicts policies, ethics, and firm policies.
- Work on ad hoc Office of General Counsel projects as needed.
- Willing to work outside normal business hours as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Working knowledge of conflict reports produced from Intapp Open; basic knowledge of D&B/Hoovers, Intapp Walls; CapIQ; WorldCheck.
- JD and active bar license in the state where the Senior Conflicts Attorney will work.
- 5+ years of experience in a conflicts department at a mid- to large-sized law firm.
- Knowledge and understanding of professional responsibility and legal ethics rules.
- Database searching experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
- Close attention to detail; fast thinker; ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate across in-person, phone, and digital platforms with a broad range of personalities.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential client information with discretion.
- Experience interfacing directly with clients is preferred.
- Ability to oversee and supervise staff as needed.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $160,000 – $180,000 annually (USD).
