About this role

About the Role Canonical is seeking a senior social media specialist to amplify our voice across channels and manage Canonical's social media presence in the EMEA region. You will be part of the global communications team, helping to tell the story of Canonical and Ubuntu to customers, partners, and the open source community. This home-based role offers the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across 75+ countries while shaping brand voice in a fast-growing, open source-focused company.

What You'll Do

  • Be the voice of Canonical across social media platforms, creating and curating content that aligns with brand strategy and tone.
  • Plan, execute, and optimize social media campaigns; monitor performance metrics and adjust tactics accordingly.
  • Collaborate with the global communications team to align on strategy, messaging, and cross-channel storytelling.
  • Engage with the Canonical and open source communities, respond to inquiries, and nurture relationships with partners and ambassadors.
  • Champion open source storytelling and advocate for Ubuntu and Canonical initiatives across channels.
  • Coordinate with regional teams and stakeholders in the EMEA region as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience managing social media for enterprise or tech brands.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong command of brand voice.
  • Ability to work effectively in a distributed, remote team environment.
  • Familiarity with open source ecosystems and Canonical's products (Ubuntu, cloud, data science, AI, IoT) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to measure impact and adjust strategies.
  • Experience with social media analytics tools and content planning.
