Job title: Senior Clinical Informatics Sales Specialist, Pacific
About the Role Senior Clinical Informatics Sales Specialist will use their genomics, healthcare and informatics expertise to identify and close informatics opportunities, selling Next Generation Sequencing and genomic data analysis pipelines and products primarily for clinical research or testing. They will act as a subject-matter expert and influencer for customers and Illumina colleagues to ensure success while enabling sales growth; primary focus on Illumina's clinical software products and cloud-based enterprise platforms in the Clinical, Pharma and Healthcare sectors.
What You'll Do
- Drive clinical customer adoption and utilization of Illumina Informatics products to grow sales; provide technical guidance during the sales cycle.
- Areas of expertise include data visualization, data science (AI and Machine Learning), and additional healthcare applications such as rare disease testing, reproductive health and other genomics-based clinical methods, cloud-based workflows and pipelines, LIMS, and analysis, annotation, interpretation and reporting from NGS testing in a clinical environment.
- Consult with customers on informatics requirements (hardware and software for data analysis); provide proof-of-concept analyses to demonstrate product fit-for-purpose; partner with third-party providers to deliver end-to-end solutions; work with Healthcare Account Management and other sales team members to ensure customer success; develop and conduct basic and advanced informatics presentations and demos, including creative demos and PoC work.
- Provide Voice of Customer input to development and marketing; become the sub-regional Subject Matter Expert for Clinical Informatics and train the broader sales organization; assist customers in removing informatics barriers to unlock sample volume and driving sequencing consumables uptake; develop and manage active sales pipeline and contribute to strategic account planning.
What We're Looking For
- Typically 5+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 3+ years with a master's degree.
- Experience in direct sales or similar customer-facing role; willingness to travel ~50%.
- Experience with sequencing data analysis and interpretation (Variant Calling, filtering, annotation, interpretation and reporting).
- Knowledge of clinical applications of sequencing, and related data formats, file types, data footprints, and typical analysis methods.
- Recognized deep technical expertise in clinical informatics, bioinformatics or an associated area.
- Experience with common software toolkits, applications, pipelines and algorithms for Next Generation Sequencing analysis, including emerging enterprise platforms.
- Knowledge of relevant cloud services and providers, including basic pricing models.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication and training skills.
- Outstanding problem solving and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively in a highly matrixed sales organization; commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
