Job title: Senior Clinical Data Science Lead
About the Role ICON is seeking a Senior Clinical Data Science Lead to oversee the analysis, interpretation, and management of clinical data to drive the success of our clinical trials and advance data-driven decision making. You will lead data science workstreams, provide strategic guidance on data governance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate advanced data science into trial designs.
What You'll Do
- Oversee clinical data science workstreams and serve as the functional lead across multiple low to moderately complex studies, ensuring quality and timely deliverables.
- Lead the development and implementation of clinical data management strategies to optimize data collection, analysis, data review, and reporting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate data science techniques into clinical trial designs.
- Oversee analysis and review of clinical data to provide actionable insights for study decisions.
- Provide strategic guidance on data governance, quality control, and regulatory compliance.
- Establish partnerships with stakeholders to leverage the latest data science and technology in clinical research.
- Apply project management to proactively manage timelines, resources, and financial tracking.
- Develop understanding of protocol content and interpret critical data and data review requirements.
- Adapt requirements and timelines in an agile manner to meet project needs.
- Track study progress and escalate risks; keep management and PMs informed of issues affecting dates, scope, or budget.
- Negotiate timelines and key deliverables with clients, external customers, and internal departments.
- Provide input on revenue recognition and forecasting of units/hours to the Clinical Data Science Project Manager.
- Undertake other responsibilities as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, computer science, or a related discipline; typically 5–8 years of experience in Clinical Data Science, Clinical Data Management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
- Extensive experience in clinical data science with a focus on data management, data review, and analysis in clinical trials.
- Enhanced knowledge of clinical data management, clinical data science, and clinical data review activities.
- Applied project management skills including experience managing timelines, resource requirements, and financial tracking.
- Detailed understanding of protocol content and interpretation of critical data and data review requirements.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to lead multiple studies, manage cross-functional teams, and act as a resource for colleagues in a fast-paced, matrix environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and anticipate future challenges.
- Ability to work independently, establish approaches, and lead resources to achieve operational and strategic objectives with impact on medium-term goals.
- Expertise in data analysis tools, statistical software, and data visualization techniques.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to adapt communication style, influence stakeholders, present and defend complex analyses, and secure approval on complex matters.
