Senior Business Development Executive – Machine Shop (OCTG Services)

About this role

A leading upstream oil and gas service company in Nigeria is seeking a Senior Business Development Executive focused on Machine Shop (OCTG Services) to be based in Lagos, with the possibility of Port Harcourt as noted for the role. The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering background and at least five years of oil and gas business development experience, with deep knowledge of OCTG products, drilling operations and API threaded connections. The role emphasizes developing and expanding business opportunities in OCTG services, building and maintaining relationships with operators, drilling contractors and procurement teams, and leading commercial activities including proposals and negotiations. The position requires a hands-on understanding of machine shop activities related to OCTG, threading, inspection, and thread repair or recut services, as well as the ability to leverage these services to meet client needs and drive revenue growth.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, develop and execute business opportunities in OCTG services and machine shop activities, including threading, inspection, and thread repair/recut services.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with operators, drilling contractors and procurement teams to drive awareness and adoption of OCTG and related services.
  • Lead the preparation and development of proposals, bids and commercial offers, including pricing strategies and negotiation with clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align service capabilities with client requirements and project timelines.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive landscape and regulatory requirements to inform strategic planning and service differentiation.
  • Support contract negotiations and ensure alignment with company objectives and client expectations.
  • Provide technical and market insights to inform product development, service improvements and cross-selling opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of oil and gas business development experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OCTG products, drilling operations and API threaded connections.
  • Experience with machine shop, OCTG, threading, inspection, and thread repair/recut services.
  • Proven relationships with operators, drilling contractors and procurement teams.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation and proposal development skills.
  • Ability to operate in Lagos and/or Port Harcourt, Nigeria, with a track record of delivering results in upstream oil and gas service environments.
