Senior Backend Software Engineer

About the Role The Senior Backend Software Engineer will join the Avigilon Alta Video backend team to build and maintain the cloud-based backend of the Alta Video Management System. You will help design, implement, and operate distributed services at scale, enabling real-time video analytics and security-oriented workflows. This hybrid role is based in Uxbridge, UK, with 1-2 days on-site per week. What You'll Do

• Develop and maintain the core backend for the Alta Video Management System (cloud-based distributed systems) that monitor and manage video cameras, access control systems and sensors.
• Design, implement, and extend features, increase capacity, and maintain CI/CD pipelines and customer deployments.
• Work in an Agile environment with emphasis on autonomy, collaboration, quality and security, and be eager to learn from teammates.
• Proficiency with Go as the primary language; you may work with other languages and frameworks as needed.
• Contribute to cloud-based architectures and service-oriented design. What We're Looking For
• Experience as a software developer.
• Experience building the backend for large cloud-based distributed systems.
• Experience with a backend language such as Go, C++, Java, Rust or Python.
• Passion for writing high-quality code and outstanding technical ability.
• Ability to work autonomously while collaborating with the team and asking for input when needed.
• Willingness to learn new languages and technologies; Go is the default, but other stacks are welcome.
• Bonus: understanding of service-oriented architectures and cloud-based products; experience with ML, Computer Vision, AI. Nice to Have
