About the Role Senior Backend Engineer to join our backend team, building, running, and maintaining Java services that power high-traffic e-commerce sites used by millions. You will participate in architecture discussions, collaborate with data scientists on algorithms, and mentor junior engineers to grow the team's skills. What You'll Do
- Build and run backend services written in Java as part of a simple, straightforward architecture.
- Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical and architectural decision-making.
- Collaborate on and implement algorithms designed and documented by our data scientists.
- Improve your own and fellow developers' skills through design kick-offs, pairing sessions, and code reviews. What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years experience in backend development positions.
- Hands-on experience building scalable and highly available web applications using Java.
- Hands-on experience with RDBMSs, including data modeling and schema design.
- A strong notion of clean code and good coding practices.
- A strong testing culture.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Nice to Have
- You have built scalable data processing pipelines before using Java and/or Python.
- You have worked on building and operating a cloud-based SaaS (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- You have worked with RDBMSs, including data modeling and schema design.
- You used messaging services to communicate (Kafka, RabbitMQ, JMS, etc).
- You have experience with Python.
- You have experience with distributed computing (Hadoop, Spark).
- You mentored fellow colleagues and helped them improve their skills.
