Senior Backend Engineer - Go

This is a remote position.

We are recruiting on behalf of a fast-growing European SaaS company that builds a cloud-based Quality Management System for the Life Sciences industry. Its customers make medical devices, pharmaceuticals and biotech products, and they use the platform to stay compliant with strict regulatory requirements. The engineering team is fully remote and spread across several countries and works in European time zones.

What you’ll do

• Own backend components from design to production in a small pod of 2–3 developers

• Work with Product and QA to clarify requirements and business rules, and catch gaps before you write code

• Model business domains: component boundaries, data models, interfaces (DDD where it makes sense)

• Write technical specifications and build REST APIs in Go

• Write unit and integration tests derived from business requirements

• Use AI-assisted development tools daily, and take full responsibility for the quality of the code you ship

• Deploy, monitor and maintain your services in production

• Review code and mentor junior engineers

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on backend development

• Commercial Go experience, or strong Python/TypeScript with working Go knowledge and a willingness to work mainly in Go

• Domain modelling and distributed systems experience, and a good understanding of DDD

• REST API design; asynchronous, event-driven messaging (retries, duplicate messages, partial failures)

• Strong data modelling and SQL: transactions, indexes, query performance

• Containerised services on a cloud platform, CI/CD (GitHub Actions or similar), logging, tracing and monitoring

• Secure coding practices and access control in a multi-tenant environment

• Fluent English, written and spoken

• High autonomy: you drive your own work without close supervision

• Nice to have:**

• Experience in regulated domains (GxP, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, audit trails)
