About the Role Teal Media seeks a Senior Backend Developer who is a thoughtful problem-solver and hands-on builder. This client-facing technical lead partners with designers, frontend developers, and strategists to architect, build, and evolve WordPress and other platforms for our clients. You bring backend expertise and enjoy translating complex client needs into reliable, scalable solutions. What You'll Do
- Lead technical work and own architectural decisions for WordPress and other platforms
- Collaborate with designers, frontend developers, and strategists to design and build solutions
- Translate client needs into reliable, scalable backend systems and APIs
- Architect, build, and evolve backend systems with a focus on reliability and scalability
- Provide client-facing leadership and guidance to ensure successful project delivery
- Adapt to evolving project scopes and mission-driven client requirements What We're Looking For
- Extensive backend development experience (years or decades)
- Demonstrated ability to lead technical work and make architectural decisions
- Strong track record translating client needs into practical, scalable solutions
- Comfortable in a client-facing technical leadership role
- Experience with WordPress and other platforms; strong PHP background
- Collaboration with designers, frontend developers, and strategists
- Authorized to work in the United States Nice to Have
- Experience with WordPress, PHP, and WordPress projects
- Prior agency/client-facing experience
- Familiarity with WordPress REST API Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $115,000 – $135,000 per year
- Remote role; must be authorized to work in the United States
- Final compensation based on expertise and fit within internal framework
