Job title: Senior Backend Architect
About the Role NationsBenefits seeks a senior backend architect to design and deliver scalable, secure .NET Core Web APIs and microservices for healthcare fintech solutions. You will lead technical direction, mentor a 6-8 person team, and collaborate across business units to drive value-based outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop testable, scalable .NET Core Web APIs and backend systems.
- Implement ASP.NET Core features including Middleware, Filters & Attributes, Authentication & Authorization, and Dependency Injection.
- Architect and build microservices-based applications with API Gateway and orchestration.
- Hands-on Azure cloud development; manage CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps.
- Work with Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Blob Storage, and Service Bus.
- Optimize SQL Server, Azure Cosmos DB, and NoSQL queries; implement caching strategies for performance.
- Develop unit tests with xUnit and Moq/NSubstitute achieving high code coverage.
- Ensure secure API development and SSO implementations.
- Lead and mentor a team of 6-8 developers and align solutions with business goals.
What We're Looking For
- 8 to 10 years of backend development and architecture experience.
- Strong proficiency in C#, .NET Core, EF Core, and ASP.NET Core.
- Expertise in microservices design, orchestration, and API Gateway patterns.
- Hands-on Azure native development; experience with Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, AKS, and Azure Service Fabric.
- Experience in high-performance application development with caching techniques.
- Solid understanding of OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns.
- Experience with SSO implementations and secure API development.
- Knowledge of GraphQL with Hot Chocolate is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- GraphQL with Hot Chocolate (preferred)
- Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) and Azure Front Door
- Strong DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization
- Experience with Azure Data Factory
