About the Role The Senior Automobile/Maintenance Mechanic will serve as the primary maintenance technician on a Rutgers campus, performing a wide range of automotive maintenance tasks. The position reports to a second-level supervisor and may guide and instruct other staff as needed. What You'll Do
- Work independently as the sole Automobile/Maintenance Mechanic on a campus, performing preventive maintenance, diagnostics, repair, and servicing of vehicles and equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; diagnose issues and implement effective repair solutions.
- Maintain maintenance records, coordinate schedules, and communicate with facilities teams and campus operations.
- Provide guidance or training to junior staff as required. What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as an automobile/maintenance mechanic with strong diagnostic and repair skills across a range of vehicle types and equipment.
- Ability to work independently on a campus facility, reporting to a supervisor.
- Knowledge of safety procedures, compliance, and documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
