About this role

Job title: Senior AI Software Architect - Runtime

About the Role Intel's Neuromorphic Computing Lab—together with a global ecosystem of 250+ research groups—has explored architectures, algorithms, and software inspired by the brain's efficiency, scalability, and adaptability. Our Loihi series of research chips pioneered event-driven, sparse, and massively parallel neuro-inspired processing, fueling over 100 peer-reviewed publications that validate the promise of this approach. The Senior AI Software Architect - Runtime will help shape and implement the runtime software stack for these technologies, enabling scalable, brain-inspired AI software across research collaborations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design and development of runtime software for Loihi neuromorphic hardware.
  • Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional teams to define software architecture, APIs, and integration strategies.
  • Optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of AI software on neuromorphic hardware, and drive deployment across diverse research environments.
  • Contribute to the evolution of the software ecosystem around Loihi, including tooling, libraries, and documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience designing scalable AI software architectures and runtime systems, with strong systems programming and an ability to reason about hardware-software trade-offs.
  • Interest or experience in neuromorphic computing, event-driven processing, or parallel architectures.
  • Ability to collaborate across global teams and translate research ideas into robust software solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills and a track record of delivering software in research or industrial settings.
