We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing transportation and electrical design organization. This role plays a critical part in supporting the monthly close process, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing Accounts Payable (AP) operations.

The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, experience working in project-based environments, and familiarity with VistaPoint ERP (or similar project-based accounting systems).

Key Responsibilities

• Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

• Lead and support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and allocations

• Reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness

• Analyze financial results and investigate variances vs. budget/forecast

• Assist in preparing internal financial statements and management reports

• Accounts Payable (AP) Oversight

• Oversee full-cycle accounts payable processing, including invoice entry, approvals, and payments

• Ensure proper coding of invoices to projects, cost centers, and GL accounts

• Manage vendor relationships and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner

• Maintain strong internal controls around AP processes

• Systems & Process Improvement

• Utilize Vista Viewpoint ERP (or similar system) for financial management and reporting

• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, automation, and controls

• Assist with system upgrades, implementations, or process enhancements

• Audit & Compliance

• Support external audits by preparing schedules and documentation

• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies

• Maintain organized and audit-ready financial records

Qualifications

• Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in engineering, construction, or project-based industries

• Strong understanding of month-end close processes and general accounting principles

• Hands-on experience with Accounts Payable processing

• Advanced proficiency in Excel

• Preferred

• Experience with Vista Viewpoint ERP (highly preferred) or similar systems (e.g., Deltek, Viewpoint, Sage)

• Experience in transportation, infrastructure, or electrical design/engineering environments

• CPA or CPA-track is a plus
