Job Summary

• We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team in Port Harcourt.
• The successful candidate will be responsible for managing financial accounting activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting management with timely financial insights.
• The ideal candidate must have strong hands-on experience using SAP, be a Chartered Accountant, and have at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience within the FMCG industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

• Manage general ledger activities, reconciliations, journals, accruals, and provisions.

• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.

• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and working capital.

• Perform bank, vendor, customer, and intercompany reconciliations.

• Ensure proper recording and classification of financial transactions in SAP.

• Review financial data and investigate variances between actual and budgeted results.

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.

• Monitor inventory accounting, stock valuation, cost of goods sold, and manufacturing-related accounting transactions.

• Ensure proper accounting for purchases, sales, expenses, fixed assets, and other business transactions.

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.

• Ensure compliance with relevant tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

• Assist with internal and external audits and provide required schedules and supporting documentation.

• Strengthen financial controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes.

• Monitor and report key financial performance indicators to management.

• Work closely with procurement, sales, supply chain, warehouse, operations, and other departments to resolve financial and reconciliation issues.

• Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of financial records.

• Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.

• Perform other accounting and financial duties assigned by management.

• Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.

• Must be a Chartered Accountant (ACA / ACCA or equivalent professional qualification).

• Minimum of 5 years' relevant accounting experience, with significant experience in the FMCG industry.

• Must have hands-on experience using SAP for accounting and financial transactions.

• Strong knowledge of financial reporting and accounting principles.

• Good understanding of inventory, cost accounting, reconciliations, and financial controls.

• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.

• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.

• Experience working with auditors and statutory / regulatory requirements.

Mandatory Requirements:

• Candidates must meet all of the following:
• Minimum 5 years' professional accounting experience.
• Proven experience working in an FMCG company.
• Chartered Accountant – ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Strong practical knowledge and hands-on SAP experience.
• Willingness and ability to work onsite in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in an FMCG environment involving manufacturing, distribution, inventory management, supply chain finance, product costing, and high-volume transactions will be highly advantageous.
