Purpose of the position: As a senior accountant within our commodity trading division, you will play an important role in financial oversight and strategic planning. Your expertise will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with accounting standards and legal requirements, and drive efficiency within the agricultural commodity segment.

Responsibilities

• Preparation and timeous submission of monthly financial and management reports.
• Development and maintenance of financial models to forecast future financial results, analysing current differences with budgets
• and consequent reporting on them as well as the preparation of annual budgets for Silo Services.
• Handling audit queries and ensuring compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Submission of statutory returns, as well as the handling of enquiries in this regard.
• Cooperating with the financial manager and external departments to maintain and improve operational and reporting systems.
• Providing training and mentoring to subordinates, promoting continuous development and career growth.
• Contributing to innovation initiatives, promoting a culture of communication and excellence.

Minimum requirements:

• B.Comm degree majoring in accounting.
• Thorough understanding of accounting systems and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
• Completed clerkship according to SAIPA/SAICA requirements. Persons with relevant postgraduate qualifications will be given
• preference.
• Three years’ experience in a financial role, preferably in the agricultural sector.
• Knowledge and experience in the accounting treatment of grain contracts and SAFEX transactions.
• Complete professional proficiency in both Afrikaans and English.

• Strong computer literacy, with the ability to effectively navigate accounting systems.

• Proven problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.

• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
