About the Role Sompo seeks a (Senior) Account /Field Engineer, Property to join our Risk Control team in Continental Europe. The role involves on-site risk engineering surveys and timely, structured survey reports, with travel across France and Europe, primarily within the automotive sector. Based in Paris, this Hybrid role offers collaboration and long-term development opportunities.
What You'll Do
- Partner with Property Team Leaders in Underwriting, Claims, and Management/Executive teams to support corporate goals including retention, new business growth, reducing loss exposure, and regional profitability.
- Ensure Risk Control surveys and service activities are completed on time and are appropriate for identified hazards; monitor consultant recommendations and ensure critical recommendations are addressed by Clients.
- Provide service quality reviews and risk desk reviews for Underwriters.
- Partner with corporate business partners’ Claims, Underwriting, Marketing, etc. to enhance the Sompo International brand.
- Ensure account renewal activities between field staff and underwriting occur as required to meet department objectives.
- Assist senior leadership with budget development and strategic planning.
- Maintain industry awareness and expertise in applicable risk control subject matters.
- Create client-facing reports and/or loss control surveys.
- Conduct loss control surveys at client locations to identify hazards and risk factors for underwriting/risk selection.
- Analyze loss trends and identify opportunities to provide risk control products and/or services to reduce losses.
- Expand existing relationships and pursue new prospective Property clients.
What We're Looking For
- 5–10+ years of experience in property risk engineering, fire protection, or industrial risk prevention.
- Master’s degree / Engineering degree in Fire Protection or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent).
- Expertise in the automotive industry; experience in HPR account management is a strong advantage.
- Strong technical expertise in fire protection systems and standards such as NFPA, FM, and APSAD.
- Strong communication skills with a consultative and educational approach; ability to influence and support clients in implementing risk improvement measures.
- Willingness to travel in France and internationally.
- Language skills: English (Professional); French (Fluent).
Nice to Have
- Expertise in automotive industry with experience in HPR account management would be considered a strong advantage.
