About the Role This is a temporary, part-time internship in the External Organizing Department based in Alameda, CA. The role offers hands-on experience organizing workers to improve workplace standards and fight for issues affecting low-wage service workers. What You'll Do
- Conduct one-on-one organizing conversations
- Chart and map a workplace
- Effectively communicate with workers
- Learn how to use labor law to protect workers
- File wage and hour, Unfair Labor Practice, Health and Safety, and other complaints
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned
- Work to support other key local union priorities What We're Looking For
- Proven commitment to social and economic justice and improving the lives of working people
- Minimum experience: Entry-level
- Bilingual English/Spanish (written & verbal) is preferred but not required
- All employees are required to be fully vaccinated and report their vaccination status as a condition of employment
- All employees must abide by USWW Safety Guidelines, including the required use of face-covering while working Nice to Have
