About the Role SEIU Local 1021 is seeking a Field Representative focused on collective bargaining in Northern California. The role reports to the Collective Bargaining Coordinator and Area Director and is responsible for organizing, negotiating, and supporting members in disputes and campaigns. What You'll Do
- Develop and maintain worksite leadership structures, recruit members, support campaigns, and assist in bargaining negotiations.
- Handle grievances, arbitrations, and disciplinary appeals; prepare hearings with attorneys; help members resolve problems informally.
- Conduct bargaining surveys, salary surveys, and research to strengthen negotiating positions; serve as chief or back-up negotiator for assigned units.
- Organize new groups seeking union representation; participate in legislative and electoral campaigns; manage campaigns and actions.
- Maintain calendars, records, and activity reports; work evenings and weekends. What We're Looking For
- Experience in union organizing and representation; experience with contract negotiation is desirable but not required.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license, good driving record, and business auto insurance; access to an automobile for work.
- Strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, organize and motivate diverse workforces.
- Ability to interpret contract language, respond to grievances, and coordinate with legal staff. Nice to Have
- Contract negotiation experience is highly desirable but not required. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $76,054.81 – $124,917.00 (USD) annually, based on qualifications and experience. SEIU Local 1021 offers a competitive and comprehensive benefits package.
